Hi everyone.

Recently I've been going through titles trying to find some decent movies to watch and a title came at me like a flashback to the 80's.

Hubby and I both grew up in the 80's ie 84 on to 92 is our era.  The movie I'm talking about is "Lost Boys 2".  Yes I know this is the recent one and no I haven't seen it yet, but it made me search in eager for the original "Lost Boys". I have yet to watch it again as I've just started the download for both of these, but looking through the clips and seeing the 80's heart-throbs, a whoosh of memories came pouring in.  My heart in those days belonged to River Phoenix.  Some of you might be saying "huh, who?" He was blond and gorgeous.  The key word is 'was', as he foolishly died of drug and alcohol abuse at a very young age, pity.  He wasn't the best of actors as the acting in those days still needed a little work. But he was one of THE guys of the era. If any of you have seen "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", River is the young Indy.

"Lost boys" is just one of many films that make great of the 80's. This movie is a must see and I recommend it to anyone who is planning on watching it's sequel. Other fave's are "Stand by Me", "Pretty in Pink" and "Dirty Dancing". My niece, who is almost 18, asked me to find the latter for her.  I had completely forgotten how much I loved Dirty Dancing that I ended up staying up till 4 in the morning watching the preview piece by piece till it finally fully downloaded. It's amazing how some movies can make you feel.

Another set of films that take you back in time are the "Beverly Hills Cop" series. Just looking at what they're wearing, the hairstyles and hearing the music is enough for me.  Not to mention that I think that these are one of the best sets of sequels that Eddie Murphy has made.

Of coarse there are the movies that had to do with witches or witchcraft and such, as these too were a big thing for the 80's.  Not to mention, anything alien or mystical. Some titles being, "My Stepmother is an Alien", "The Witches of Eastwick", and of coarse "Ladyhawke". I recommend all 3 of these. Each a great movie on it's own.

These are just a few of my faves. I just had to get this written down somewhere and share my nostalgia with someone.  All comments are welcome and pls share some of your fave movies too.

BTW if anyone wants any further info re these movies, just let me know and I'll be happy to share.

Enjoy your movie night.

Lost Boys is a great film, how about Explorers, flight of the Navigator Tron Silent Runnings (poor little robots) or Monster Squad. Don't forget The Princess Bride, labyrinth, Krull, Dark Crystal i think Transformers the Movie too (the 80's cartoon move) find the soundtrack and (its on Mininova) it's like being there all over again. And the He-Man film. And the... only joking, when we login to here we're now also logged in to movieComet too, good place to find films (ish) or Actors and they'll show up on your blog too.

Yay, I remember I cried when I found out. Then I remember being totally crushed when I found out how he died. Real disappointment. :( At the mo I'm trying to down what I think is his last film (not totally sure), Sneakers. Will let you know how that one turns out. About "The Missing", beautiful movie. Both hubby and I loved it. I don't know what to say about it other than it is a must see movie.

The oldest one that i watched and liked completely is "The Good the Bad and the Ugly". I liked the role of the Ugly. I need that movie, i lost the original cd that i had. His performance was best in the movie.

Have to agree with you. He is the best character in the movie. Here's a link if you want to dl it, http://www.torrentz.com/37cb9de885a24e91f651a6b2a5f1717246c73503. Don't forget to add the extra trackers to your list in properties so you'll have a faster dl. And if you already knew that, just wanted to help. Enjoy.

I love 80's movies and music. I remember a skate movie with Christian Slater called Gleaming the Cube. Really cool movie, including the skate movies!

Right on. A really good cd, various hits of the 80's, fab. There's 100 hits on it. Sorry couldn't find the link, but here are a couple of other great cd's,

Best of the 80's -http://www.torrentz.com/08d8b82da8f40356803d591c50cbc7fa43dd0483

Top 100 Hits of the 80's - http://www.torrentz.com/a093a50677cb9846d100f14585591626884486ca

Time Life's 80's Collection (whole decade) - http://www.torrentz.com/37208500f59d229b149b531263f0fe4406cf878b

Anyways, Gleaming the Cube, absolute cool skate movie. Another good one of Christian Slater is Broken Arrow (1996). If you haven't seen it I think you'll like it. Don't be put off by Travolta, my husband was until he saw the film. Some see Travolta and only think of Grease, but he's got a few good movies to his name too. Like "Face Off" (Action) and Phenomenon (Drama) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117333/
