what do S and L signify

I'm assuming that you're referring to how some index sites classify the "Health" (how long ago?? ... we don't know) of the torrents... Yes?

If so, it's really rather simplistic... "S1/L0" would mean "Seeds 1" and "Leeches 0", etc. .

Some torrent sites use this method to indicate the torrent's "health"... some others use green, yellow and red horizontal bars.
