Help with listening port

Every port I use for a listening port is blocked. Every single guide for this problem has said to forward ports on your router, blah, blah. Well I'm not using a router. I'm connected straight into my Embarq DSL modem. Every port i try to use is blocked. If anyone can help me that'd be fucking amazing.

ok 1st off we need to find your ip address or your default gateway that you log onto...and yes once u do more than likely the default gateway is going through a router...if using xp in the run box type cmd press enter or running vista in the search box type cmd press enter ,,,brings up the command dos box ,,in that box u r going to type ipconfig all one word and hit enter,,,,look at the default gateway it should be one of the first five lines ,,,it should look something like this 190.166.15.1 write this number as u see it ,,with the dots as well....this is your ip address every time you log onto your computer and connect to the internet. next write this ip address into your web address bar [ at the top of web page] and not your web search bar [in the middle of web page] hit enter it should bring you to a web site in which it should say router...you need a passcode to log onto...no problem... copy and paste this [Default Logins and Passwords for Networked Devices] let me know email me wizard8011@netscape.net

*sigh* ... Your straight connected to your DSL .... ROUTER DSL always utilizes a router. You could try connection to 10.0.0.38 or 10.0.0.138 which should be your gateway/router. It has a nice utility in which you can enable port forwarding.

Go to www.portforward.com and look up info about your router there, DSL uses a router and you may call it a modem.
