If download to USB directly, can I protect the HDD? USB is much cheap now.

BitComet will let you put your download folder on an external USB drive . What kind of Protection are you asking about ? ...{TRODE}

There is no write to and read from hard disk, so hard disk is protected. I am not sure if it is correct?

BitComet must be able to write to the hard drive to save new files and BitComet must read from hard drive to share or play files . Anti-Virus software can monitor traffic on USB/firewire bus if enabled .....{TRODE}
