So today my friend Gerry to me he likes this girl Madison. Madison is probably the fattest girl in our class (there are only 200 of us). But this is not the issue the issue is that Gerry is too much of a pussy to ask her out because she's- well, huge. She's not ugly and her style is her own in a good way- but she's not gonna gain him any popularity points. So- I have no idea what to tell him about asking her out. I feel like if I encourage him he will only hurt the poor girl. Meh.

Popularity isn't everything ... to be honest, it's nothing. Popularity is some form of mass hysteria in which people try to do everything for others to like them. But since everyone is so self-consumed with their own popularity, nobody actually pays attention to others. Hence my statement: Popularity isn't real.

Agreed, Indeed... Arrogance is just another form of try'n to be popular well... You're school life can real suck, but if you get paying job and you're old "ENEMY" come's to you begging for job, then i think only one laughing is you! And where dose the popularity even take you? Little bit higher self estimation and in US school's a lot more people who want to blow you're brain's to wall... Ow, and if the school is over, what then? Dose any one even remember you? Will you ever see again these people who you real hard try to be popular?

Any way's.. It is way to long to write... Still back to "Zendex" i seriously agree...

In reply to both your and Zendex's excellent feedback- I have to ask if either of you have chosen to date or dated a fat girl (lets say at least 30lbs over weight) or more importantly, ignored a larger girl simply because of her size?

I'm not tiny myself- but I just fear he will cave to social pressure because he has no plan to deal with people's negative comments.

Popularity in school doesn't get you anywhere when you're out of it. People will go with who they like no matter what. If he caves in, let him then. If he doesn't, good for him. You can tell him your opinion (being his friend) but it is his final decision. I knew people who were quite popular in school - usually the hooligans and good at sports. They turned out okay. Nothing outstanding. Some even worse off. The smart ones did though - but they're still studying at this age (22/23) - docs & lawyers.

It comes down to how shallow he's going to be. Now that I see them together- I think it may work out. In the past he's only dated "socially acceptable" girls. She's a good person that's why I was concerned. Only a few people have said anything and mostly because they are so opposite. He's very lean and tall, she's very short and round. Well- maybe there's balance in that. lol
