I’m sick of hearing about Tropic Thunder, and the damn thing hasn’t even started shooting yet. Hollywood’s various star fucking outlets have been reporting on the film for at least a year, with the kind of fever usually reserved for the exploits of Paris Hilton. I now hate Tropic Thunder and wish they’d just get the damn thing over already.
In case you’ve missed any of the many reports (ok maybe it’s only actually been 4, but it feels like 30) we’ve made on this as of yet, non-existent film, at one point Tom Cruise was going to be in it, which prompted all the unwarranted advance interest. He’s long since been out, but the interest in it hasn’t gone away. Now Variety says Owen Wilson and Nick Nolte have joined the Ben Stiller directed comedy.
Tropic Thunder is supposed to be about a group of actors shooting a war movie which goes horribly wrong. Somehow the actors end up actually becoming real commandos, instead of fake ones running around next to cardboard shrubs. Already in the cast is Jack Black, Steve Coogan, Robert Downey Jr., some other people no one cares about, and of course Ben Stiller.
