I hope this appears on my Blog and not as a post on the forum.
Although I have a fully fledged couple of websites, I've not really dabbled into writing a blog on a regular basis. But hey - here goes.
My login name is The_Ant, but my nickname is FeiJi Fancier. What's a Feiji? I hear you ask. FeiJi is Aeroplane in Mandarin Chinese (Putonghua). I've been trying to learn it for a couple of years, but I don't really seem to be able to commit as much attention to it as I should. And, to be honest, I have bags of time on my hands.
By trade I'm a Computer Network Administrater, but I'm not a Computer Network Technicial - that's a whole different role, these days. Of course I'm fully conversant with PC hard and software.
But a heart attack, which seems to have left me with pain in my hands, loss of feeling in my legs (presumably diabetes induced neuropathy - what ever that means), occasionally severe abdominal pains, and muscle loss has left with an inablility to walk any further than a few yards before needing to rest whatever muscles in my legs I have left. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to keep up with what's going on in the corporate world any more - so my chances of being re-employed look slim. My mobility problems and muscle loss mean I can no longer dig around under desks or hump & dump computer bits around - even with a trolley - they're simply too heavy.
Anyway.
I've asked a question on the main Topcomet/Bitcomet bulletin board regarding BitComet and share ratios. Not sure whether I've done it correctly, but after several attempts I can at least see it there now.
My Philosophy:
"Our one REAL need in life is to be entertained."
What I mean by that is; we do in life whatever we do because it feeds our habit for being entertained. I'ts not simply to keep the human race from extinction, but by being selfish we are better able to please ourselves and those around us. So yes, even toilet cleaners do what they do in order to be able to afford to be entertained (some people may even be "entertained" by cleaning toilets).
All of us (well mostly all of us) want to have children as they are such a vital element in that selfish/selfless gratification exchange. But, of course there is no such thing as a "free lunch", so we pay for it by holding down jobs, giving to others, or (for those with what I would call a lower moral conscience) stealing, murdering, etc.. Ultimately everything we do boils down to that need for being entertained.
We are entertained by whatever it takes to make us feel good. Fortunately (or unfortunately, I'm not sure which takes precidence) we don't all have the same idea of what "being entertained" means, in this context.
From hereonin, I will mostly be writing about what happened today - which doesn't necessarily mean simply what happened to me today, but more general observations too.
So here goes, enjoy.
What happened today:
I think my medical problems are reaching my brain.
I went to the surgery a couple of days ago for an appointment with my new full time GP (we've had a series of locums recently). I asked for a note of the time and date, but for some reason I either lost it, or was so engrossed in something else I simply didn't pick it up.
I rose in my usual lethargic way (some would call it lazy), and remembering that I had an appointment sooner or later, went to the surgery to enquire. And of course, yes you've guessed it, I was 3 hours late!
Don't all mail me with reminders that my new booking is on Monday at 9:40am, will you? Please.
Later on I went to see the new movie "Tropic Thunder". It gets 75% approval from me. Hilarious throughout, but odd moments that didn't quite seem to work properly, or the dialogue was so fast that I couldn't quite catch it. Still, it did it's job, which is to keep me entertained. Tom Cruise's makeup is truly astounding, and it wasn't until reading the credits I realised that he had a small role.
