BitComet vs uTorrent

4 a while, i was usin' uTorrent as my downloader, and that's entirely peer based downloadin', so some of the files can be stupidly slow. u rarely ever see n e thing passed 150 kB/s.

now i'm stuck on BitComet 'cause it's amazing. files download fast compared 2 uTorrent, i love lookin' @ the icon that's ever present on the screen near top left when the down speed says 300 kB/s. 'course that doesn't happen all the time, but hell, it's better than almost always seein' 50 kB/s with huge torrents that have no 1 2 seed off of.

downloadin' right now, a file that's 4 gig with no seeds at all, even possible 1's, and the down speed is readin' mostly 170 kB/s. goes 2 show how much better BitComet is.

Believe me, I love to seed. It's just not easy for us people who live in a country like belgium, where you're fucking restricted with uploads (and downloads). I, for example pay every month €65 for my connection, and with 4 to 6 movies, or some tv-shows, I always exceed my volume. It sucks big time!

you guys need to wiki the word Torrent. it's all the same shit. your clients options, providers specifications, and most importantly your own computer's set-up is what matters for downloading/uploading speeds. maybe look into port forwarding , listening and recieving packets in wiki too i you feel your advanced in torrenting...

otherwise, everything most of you are saying sound like you don't know how your getting this digital information we currently call a torrent.

Same here, mate:

- Any other torrent client: < 150Kb/s. 1 Gb in 4 hours.

- BitComet: > 300Kb/s. 4 Gb in 1 hour.

The only thing I'd like BitComet to have is separate tasks for BT and HTTP tasks, so if I have a tas limit of 2 for BT tasks, I don't have to stop waiting BT tasks and increase the limit to download HTTP ones.

uTorrent is a very efficient torrent client, but that is all that it does.

When downloading only from bittorrent sources, two identical computer/connections would perform equally with bitcomet or utorrent. BitComet would out perform if the files were also available from ftp/http or ed2k sources, or from LTseeds.

So basically, both are good clients, uTorrent being a good choice for someone wanting only to run torrents using as little resources as possible, and someone wanting a client with much more abilities would do better with BitComet.

I use both, and have been BitComet's forum Administrator for years.
