Hello again everyone!
It has been a while since my last post. (Actually, there were only 3 up until now)
We have been a little busy the last couple of months, and I hope you realize that unfortunately we have some other jobs next to our activities for the archives, as we sometimes need to pay some bills and the archives are not profitable yet. Also we are building a new home which means more storage space, and the addition of a separate media-room and a library gives us the opportunity to pursue our goals more professionally.
We will try to keep you up-to-date what is going on in the Van Rixtel Archives. We are acquiring a lot of materials and also cataloging and digitizing continuously, and hope to share some of the materials real soon. Also our side-project, The Classic Photo Archive is starting to take shape as the amount of photographs and postcards in our collection is slowly increasing. Next month (October) we will start with digitizing a large amount of sound recordings, brochures, advertisements, newspaper clippings, and other materials that now are stacked in boxes and closets. What can you expect from this? Maybe a lot, maybe a little.
In the meanwhile our most profitable venture seems to be translation work. We have been approached by several companies and agencies to translate manuals, brochures, and even report cards as there are not many qualified Dutch-English-Thai translators around.
For more information on what the Van Rixtel Archives are about, just send an e-mail with "The Van Rixtel Archives" as the subject to gvrixtel@yahoo.com .
A "wise" quote to finish of this post:
