I hate computers

Both my home PCs crashed yesterday, requiring a complete reinstall of Vista HP on one, and the other is still down becaue it is stuck at the chkdisk - which it does complete successfully, but doesn't seem able to flag up the fact that it's finished, so starts all over again .  I'll sort it out eventually - hopefully without scrapping the current XP-H installation.

On a much sunnier side, (albet with a tinge of sadness) my niece started a new facebook page dedicated to my dear departed little brother, Philip (her Dad).  Facebook seems to have galvanised our entire family into keeping in touch with each other - and there are members of the family I didn't even know about.

One of which is a special effects guy working on big budget films and TV.  I'd better not say any more about him, as no doubt he's a busy fellow, and I've not actually met him yet, so don't know what his views on privacy are.  Suffice it to say that if you've ever watched TV from behind the sofa, then you'll know as much about him as I do.

Hi !

No ofense but inorder for your computer not to crush there are a serie of things that you have to do as a computer maintenance from time to time and these are deleteing unnecesary files , scanning your hard disk , defragmenting the drives , cleaning &repairing the registry and for this if you use a licensed windows try the same mark (microsoft) as antivirus, antispy regclean software , check your disk capacity and try to keep it at half of his capacity or if you do not have to much space upgrade your hard disk ; If you will do these things on the future I am sure that your computer will not crash again . Have a nice day ! If you need more details how to do it or wich products would be good for your computer just let me know and i will do the best to provide you the best stuff you need . Have a nice day !

None taken, but grandmothers, eggs and a certain amount of sucking spring to mind. I'm an IT Computer Network specialist.

Morale behind this is that sometimes even the most careful and knowledgeable can fall foul.

I believe it was installing Google Chrome that shafted my Vista PC, and a hardware glitch - probably the hard drive - has shafted the other. It is probably just coincidence that they happened at approximately the same time.

What makes you think I didn't attempt other resolutions?

If you need help at all, I'd be more than happy to oblige, if I can.
