The upcoming election

Just posted this on myspace, thought i would include it here as well.

Even though i enjoy the illusion of freedom in this country, there are times when i truly hate this country. No, let me rephrase that. I dont hate America, i hate americans. We have to be some of the biggest morons on the planet. I listen to NPR every morning. One of their reporters went to this small town to talk about the election. one of the people they interviewed was a donut shop owner. he said he is for McCain because he (mccain) is against abortion. He was for McCain because he (mccain) was against same sex marriage (meaning of course that he is a homophobe). I ask you, what the fuck do these things have to do with running a country.

This afternoon i listened to NPR again. they were doing a story on a couple of republican women go around their predominately democratic town and try to covert people over to republican. the guy they talked to actually started changing his mind toward mccain because of among other things; his military experience. this guy also started talking about how obama just suddenly showed up and nobody really knew him the way they knew mccain.

Ok first, what does military experience, wartime or peacetime, have to do with being president. i know quite a few veterans, some have seen war, some not, and i can tell you that most of them are good men and have great leadership skills, but i certainly wouldnt want them being my president. why? because i know they wouldnt do the JOB correctly.

and so what if obama is an unknown. we thought we knew the current idiot pretty well didnt we? doesnt change the fact that he and his administration are one of the most corrupt ones in the history of this country

The same goes with abortion. i know a lot of people that are against abortion (consequently also against the very ideas of freedom this country was allegedly founded on) and i wouldnt want any of them running for president. And would you believe it; in this so called morally just country, i know tons of homophobes that are against same sex marriage. guess what; you got it, i wouldnt want them running for office either.

When it comes to focusing on idiotic things like military experience, political experience, how they voted for that bill or this bill, we are missing the point of this election, or any election for that matter. it doesnt matter what kind of a person he is, what his believe system is, or how may years he was in the boy scouts. what matters is: CAN HE DO THE JOB. this BS reminds me of high school. when the class would pick the class president. they didnt choose the person who would be best for the class' benefit, they would alway pick the person that was most popular. he could be dumbest MF in the whole school but that wouldnt matter. we pick him because we like him. now, if you look at the last two elections, you can see that we obviously havent graduated yet.

Finally, when you choose our public officials on our system of values, you basically want the country to be like you. i am for abortion, same sex marriage, the death penalty. however, if your not for any of these things, then i bet you would be pretty pissed off if i came to your door and told you that you had to believe what i believe or you would end up end prison.

think about it. by voting for your own personal agenda, your basically showing up at my door and telling me how to live my life. vote if you must, but do it for the right reasons. can the canidate do the job that we hire him for. i would have to say that our last two decisions would give a resounding NO!!!

Interesting thoughts... people always like somebody not for what they are doing or can do, but for their charisma. but this is a thing that can be learned or prepared by advisors and PR specialists. They do research and know what people are interested in. And promising this and that it doesn't mean that they really are going to do this.

If you want to change the world, start by changing yourself
