Well, It's good to be back :)
While I'm searching for some good texts about mythology and history to write, I decided to tell something about my impresions of Folk & folk metal music. For me, that was logical connection. I adore Slavs, Celts and Norsemen, and love to their way of life expanded to love of their beautiful music. Also i like metal music, hevy and power metal only at first when I was kid, but when I heard mighty combination of traditional instruments with modern sound of metal, I was delighted :) My favourites are Cruachan, Eluveitie, Tuatha De Danann; Arkona, Pagan Reign (mighty Russian band); Fejd, Ensiferum, Finntroll, Folkearth, Moonsorrow, Turisas, Korpiklaani... Only one thing, which occurs in some of those bands, I don't like - harsh vocals. My opinion is that God gave us normal, beautiful voice, so there is no need for snarling, howling, roaring and for many similar things which animals do. But despite that, that is my favourite music, because of sound and nice lyrics which tell excellent story and make things complete.
Also I must mention nowadays pure folk music, which is also excellent, and for people who study history and who have great interest in mythology (like I do), far more better than previous style. People who made that songs are indeed erudite, because they know a lot things of that people they sing about. I adore bands like Corona Borealis, Dead Can Dance, Kulgrinda, Garmarna, Kalenda Maya, Omnia, Poeta Magica and many other. Some of those bands have songs which are ambiental, medieval or some other influence.
I'm not a musician, so I don't know most precise reference about musical genres and influences, I only named them by my comprehension.
I wish to meet people with same interest in Folk & folk metal music and to expand my knowledge about them and to hear something new and useful, so people write me.
Поздрав (Pozdrav) свим љубитељима ове музике :)
