Help to configure 2 computers connected to 1 router

Hi,

I just purchased a notebook and connected to the same router as my pc. However when I try to use the same name Bitcom1 on the application name on port range forwarding on the router for my notebook, it was not allowed. So how do I use Bitcomet on both of my pc and notebook which are connected to the same router to download at the same time? Specifically, the application name at the port range forwarding of the router for the pc is Bitcom1, do I put Bitcom2 for my notebook?

Thanks in advance.

You can use any name you like, the important thing is to use a separate port for each computer, and its best to use a higher numbered port, to avoid conflicts or restrictions. Any random port from 50000-60000 will do fine.

Make sure you also setup windows to use a static internal (LAN) IP address for each computer, or it will be possible you might need to change your portforwarding settings when you reboot, if your router gives your computer a different IP address.

Boot up all computers, confirm that the ports are open. I suggest you use...

One all computers are confirmed as "open", then set the IP to static in windows, on all computers.

If your using both computers to run torrents at the same time, you will have to calculate the settings on both, so you don't max out your upload, which will harm your speeds. Also, if you allocate 40% for each computer, and one of them isn't using the entire 40%, then your not going to be downloading efficiently on either. Generally its best to run torrents on only one machine, because its easier to configure, and more efficient, but there is no reason not to have the port open on both.
