Trek Has Open Auditions For Extras

Trek Has Open Auditions For Extras As most movie buffs know, it’s pretty common for films to operate under code names to maintain secrecy. Doing so makes it a bit of a challenge for fans to decipher where their favorite films are shooting or what the story of a particular project might be.

It’s no surprise to discover that J.J. Abrams Star Trek picture is currently using a pseudonym – after all, Abrams has his upcoming January movie still operating under a code name instead of revealing it to anxious viewers. And, this is Star Trek, a picture with the potential to be one of the most stalked movies since Peter Jackson created Middle Earth in New Zealand.

All of that said, they aren’t working terribly hard to make the code names challenging. TrekMovie.com found open casting information for a movie titled “Corporate Headquarters” that brags “Vulcan type eyebrows” and a need for cadets and military types.

Don’t get your hopes up that you could be the next Kirk. The casting call is for extras. It lasts this week in Burbank, Monday-Friday, 11am-5pm for some of the parts, with an open casting call on the 10th for the military types. Here’s a look at what the casting directors are looking for:

Seriously, what Star Trek fan wouldn’t be okay with their eyebrows being shaven in a “Vulcan type” shape… although the notion that it’s “Vulcan type” and not just “Vulcan” makes me wonder if this doesn’t have something to do with Romulans instead of just Vulcans. The “interesting and unique facial features” part is interesting too. It sounds promising that Abrams and Paramount are maintaining the diversity in appearance Trek is well known for.

Meanwhile, on the human side…

Project: The SAG feature film "Corporate Headquarters" is seeking background talent.

Dates: Shoot starts early November.

Seeking the following types, ages 18-70, any ethnicity:

Cadets: young, fresh-faced

Military types: marching experience preferred

Thin, regal talent with BROWN or BLACK hair AND are OK with their eyebrows being shaved from the arch outward to portray a Vulcan-type eyebrow shape.

Talent with interesting and unique facial features such as: long necks, small heads, extremely large heads, wide-set eyes, bug eyes, close-set eyes, large forehead, short upper lip, pronounced cheekbones, over- or undersized ears and/or nose, facial deformities, ultra plain-looking people, ultra perfect-looking people, pure wholesome looks, twins, triplets, emaciated talent, regally poised and postured talent, or other visually unique characteristics

Everyone must be thin, athletic, fit; wardrobe will be form-fitting. All hair lengths on males and females welcome.

Okay, let’s go for the obvious joke here. I’ve been to numerous sci-fi conventions and I can tell you the typical Trek fan won’t meet that last part: thin, athletic, fit? So these auditions are great for actors, but the average Trek fan probably isn’t going to have much of a shot at getting a role, even as an extra. It doesn’t say anything about wearing a red shirt being a requirement, but it might not hurt your chances.

Additional information can be found on HeadquartersCasting.com. If you wind up taking a trip to Burbank and auditioning, let us know how it went.
