Country of Choice

Will we still be the Country of choice and still be Canada if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in Canada because it is the
Country of Choice????

Think about it. All I have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS?

I celebrate Christmas, but because it isn't celebrated by everyone, we can no longer say Merry Christmas, now it has to be Season's Greetings. It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn’t it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday?

We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that.
This says it all! This is an editorial written by a Canadian citizen, published in a Canadian newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he?

                   IMMIGRANTS, NOT CANADIANS, MUST ADAPT

I'm tired of this nation worrying about
whether we are offending some individual or their culture. I'm not against
immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better
life by coming to Canada. Our population is almost entirely made up of
descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those
who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need
to understand.

This idea of Canada being a multicultural
community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national
identity. As Canadians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own
language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of
struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who
have sought freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic,
Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to
become part of our society, learn the language!

We are, in the main, Christians, not Buddhists, Muslims or Islamic because                  Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home,
because God is part of our culture.

If the Maple Leaf offends you, then you should seriously consider a move to                 another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and
our lifestyle. Our government gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But once you are done complaining, whining and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Canadian freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

hi, (I am a Muslim), and in my country we enjoy the the holidays of christian brothers without changing their names (changing the names have no meaning). everybody should respect religions and you disagree with others but you should respect them, that is what I believe.

Don't forget you were also foreigners in the first place. Why choosing troublesome religious dialogue when you have secularism which excludes irrational religious rules from politics and leaves individuals to choose ideology and religion by themselves. Well just an idea that accidently came to my mind.

Dear I respect your views. In my opinion all Religions are the paths to go to the Divine and everybody has got the right to follow his beliefs. If you love God then you will respect everything what is the creation of HE and then only remain Love and only Love.I believe you agree with me. Free yourself from all limits and be universal. For sake of identity I am Indian and love everything in this Universe.

great share!!! I totally agree as i am a U.S. citizen , and have had the same EXACT problem in this country! Personally, i hope Canada is able to resolve this issue as the same particular issue (as well as MOST of our govt. ) has made me almost ashamed to admit my U.S citizenship.

When you make it a crime to mention GODS name in school, and replace Christmas with.......well look at what has become of my once Great country. Thanks again.

Interesting, i thought holland was the only country with this problem. But it seems to be a world wide issue.

Once u take ur stand in Holland ur either a nazi or a rascist, while all we want is for immigrants to fit in. Don't feel at home, remember, we didn't force u to come to Holland.

Ur country is better or different, good, if u like it there, plz stay. Globalization is the pain in our necks that we ruin the nations.

I am a Canadian born and raised, My Parents and roots are Scottish, and if you know your history, much of western Canada was explored and settled by Scottish people Fraiser,MacKenzie,Logan to name a few.But remember the Native Indians were here first yet did we fit into there customs and ways ? No we did not, we told them to become Christians ,or we(forefathers) called them heathens and worse for their beliefs. Now it seems we are in the same place they once were.As far as the political correctness about Christmas and all that, I think that is abit overboard. I am not a Christian yet I take no offense or bother to someone saying merry Christmas to me.Oh and as far as the we speak english part..French is also an official language here in Canada

Alberta was named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, 4th daughter of Queen Victoria. Alberta then was one of 4 provisional districts of the North-West Territories, and included only that part of the present province south of 55° N lat and west of 111° long. Alberta's current boundaries were determined in 1905 when it became a province. Though appearing quite homogeneous, Alberta may be divided into 2 distinct sociocultural regions - southern Alberta, with Calgary as its focal point; and central and northern Alberta, with Edmonton as the metropolitan centre.

This division has deep historic roots. Southern Alberta was once the domain of the Blackfoot nation; farther north the Cree and various woodland tribes held sway. In the early days of non-native settlement, the south welcomed the rancher, while the grain farmer opened the central agricultural region.

Calgary and southern Alberta were first linked to the east by the Canadian Pacific Railway, Edmonton and the north by the Grand Trunk Pacific and Canadian Northern railways. Later, Calgary became the administrative and financial headquarters for the province's petroleum industry, Edmonton its exploration and production centre.

Politically, both regions have consistently supported conservative parties since the 1920s, first through the Social Credit Party and then the Conservative Party; recently opposition in the north has tended to coalesce around the New Democratic Party or Liberal Party provincially, while in the south it gravitates to right-of-centre candidates.

If you remember your history... Columbus was looking for for India..hence the name Indians!!!
