Bitcomet 100% processor usage

Hello,

My PC:

Vista 32bit SP1; zone alarm firewall free 8, AVG 8.0 free; bitcomet 1.10.

The problem is that bitcomet, like other torrent clients use nearly 100% of processor; but the process bitcomet.exe itself uses avarage 25%; and there is still free processor power; but system is running so slow that it's impossible to do anything, even mouse is "jumping" ;(

J've searched sollution for this issue, even sent 2 mails to support, but they of course didn't respond.

PC details:

E6300 1,86ghz (if it's running at 2,8ghz the problem isn't solved)

3GB ram; x1950pro

scanned by avg, nod32 and zone alarm(trial antivirus)

You need to wind BitComet right down when it comes to down and uploading. It can get quiet greedy on the CPU. Start on the bare minimum and work your way up keeping an eye on the CPU usage. I only have 1GB RAM and XP Pro SP3 but BitComet still allows me to go and shop around on eBay at the same time as up and downloading.

Cheers

I suspect zone alarm is the problem, there are much better free firewalls you can use.

I'd also try running in selective startup mode, by running msconfig

Start>run>type "msconfig"

Then disable any startup program you don't need to run everytime your computer starts.

If that doesn't cure it, try disabling any programs you don't need to connect to the internet, and if that solves the problem, just re-enable them one at a time till you find the conflict.

When j've shut down zone alarm it didn't help, but when j restarted system without this firewall bitcomet is not still slowing the pc. Thanks for help, but is there a posibility to run both zone alarm and bitcomet in the way that pc was not like a turtle? Or which firewall do You recommend ?

avg free is not enough proction, j've found that while zone alarm is running, avg don't have to scan Hdd becouse it's always free of spyware and tracking cookies ;)

My understanding is you can't completely shut down zone alarm firewall, the only way is to completely remove it.

But honestly, I've never used it.

why use a firewall at all??

I only have antivirus on from kaspersky (and only for incoming email), everything else slowns down sys tremendously

You MUST have a firewall, either in your router, or on your computer or you will be infected with a lot of nasty stuff, and nothing on your computer can be considered as secure.
