It has been more than half a year since I last updated you on the Van Rixtel Archives. This has mainly been caused by several changes that have taken place during the last couple of months. First of all, we moved to a temporary house where we have access to the internet over a 56kbps line. This reduces the speed and times spend on the internet.
I have changed jobs in the mean while, which unfortunately means that i have lesser free time than when i was a teacher.
Also we have been busy with the building of our new home. It is progressing nicely and we will probably be moving there somewhere in June.We have started the designing process for both our media room and library. Especially the library plans have changed drastically after seeing what a wonderful job the construction workers have done with the room that was originally intended as a storage room. Earlier plans to convert the 2nd floor guestroom in a semi-library have been completely revised and we now have decided to make the 1st floor storage a full-fledged library & study room.
The outdoor storage left standing from our former house will be now upgraded and house our more bulky stuff. This means revised design ideas for three spaces...which also mean a lot of thinking and planning and trying to do everything within the budget.
On the digitizing side of things i can tell you we are slowly but surely progressing in cataloging our current collection. In addition we have been looking add new affordable techniques for digitizing cassette tapes, records, video-cassettes, books, films, photographs, slides and negatives.Seems every time we decided on a certain technique we find a better one.Any advice or suggestions are always welcome.
Finally, i would express my support to the gentlemen of Pirate Bay, and i hope they will be successful in appealing their sentences.
