I STILL need help please!

My BitComet seems to have issues concerning compatibility

with Vista 64bit...or something else?

I use Vista Ultimate 64x and BitComet V1.11,

and then back to Bitcomet V1.07 and testing.

During installation an error pops up saying>>>

ERROR OPENING FILE FOR WRITING:

  \extensions\staged_xpis\{B042753D-F57E-4e8e-A01B-7379A6D4CEFB}\

Bitcomet_extension_signed.xpi

>>>what the heck does that mean????

Again, please help me...I don't want to resort to using another P2p software..

i like Bitcomet but it doesn't seem to support 64bit OS.

If the Authors of Bitcomet are reading this,

you gotta help too man! Please!

Any comments or suggestions please, help AGAIN!

Thank you!

i think it means that when its installing it usaully installs to a directory on your hard drive,.. which usaully means c drive,.and it selects this has where it installs..but am not sure on this,..

or its possible that its installed a add on into your browser extensions for when you download things from certain page,s.. so i don,t think its too much too worry about,..??? but don,t hold me to this info,.. please don,t....hee hee

but thats what it sounds like to me,..? ? ? ? ?

all the best wish,s to you and your family.......

take care

Mark, the reason why this happen because your firefox browser is open when bitcomet try to install this firefox plugin and it can not cover the old same xpi file. Please close your firefox at first and then retry.

And please make sure your previous bitcomet version is exit.

Thanks Sirstar!...but I don't install apps while other programs are running/open.

And yes, I always uninstall my Bitcomet when I install a newer version.

thanks for the help,really!

I'll agree... XPI files are normally used by Firefox for extentions.. If FF s in use, the error will come , most likely.

i would just say update your software. I had the same problem with vista and bitcomet that is part of the reason i hate it. and i just went back to windows xp which would fix this problem if you decided to change operating systems.

If your getting this error and firefox isn't running, try rebooting and doing the install. Its possible that there is a firefox process that hasn't fully closed, so bitcomet can't install the extension.

Another option is to decline the firefox extension during install. You can install it later from the options menu, or you can get the "flashgot" extension from mozzila.com, which will let you choose from any download managers for http/ftp downloads.

Also, I can assure you that BitComet runs very well on Vista x64
