I’m often a little perplexed by viral marketing efforts that put your friend’s photo into the scene, or call your friend on the phone or something like that. First of all, half of them can be really threatening—the ones for Funny Games last spring let you watch your friend be tortured. And when you put your friend’s still photo on a moving body in the video, the effect can be really weird and forced.......
While our Comic Con correspondents are already on the convention floor and reporting stories, a handful of other selected journalists are headed to San Diego via train, in a car fully decked out to promote City of Ember, the Bill Murray fantasy coming out next year. Don’t even talk to me about how jealous I am. Anyway, CHUD cornered the movie’s producer, Gary Goetzman, but not to talk about a movie......
OK, those of you who haven’t seen The Dark Knight-- all 12 of you—need to click away instantly, less the spoiler-phobes come and kill me in my sleep. OK, ready? I’m not going to take the flak if you feel spoiled after this paragraph.

Hairspray was one of those musicals that embodied that old cliched line, “It's a crazy idea, but it just might work.” The Broadway adaptation of an unusually sweet John Waters movie was a hit, and then its movie version was another hit last summer; everyone left with their pockets full of cash and seemed satisfied.

The Hollywood Reporter writes today that Mia Wasikowska has been cast as the title character in Tim Burton's spin on Alice in Wonderland. The movie will be filmed in a combination of live-action and motion-capture animation, and given Burton's inventive style, there's no telling exactly what it will look......
Wednesday night was preview night at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, and we were there wandering the floor with the rest of the excited geek masses. While wandering around the Fox booth, we spotted the following: A new teaser poster for the upcoming X-Men spinoff movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Whether this banner will actually make it as a poster, or whether they’re just using at the convention......
Today was our first day in San Diego and, as soon as our feet hit the ground we had Watchmen on the brain. While Ed Perkis and I waited unnecessarily in line for the disappointing premiere of Lost creator JJ Abrams’ new series Fringe. CB’s Rafe Telsch battled his way through the convention floor to point his video camera at this: A life size (Fully functional? We wish!) version of Nite Owl’s awesome......
