MAKEDA, QUEEN OF SHEBA (The symbol of Beauty) (960 B.C.)

The Country of Sheba

The country Sheba or Saba, whose name means Host of Heaven and peace, was Abyssinia. Located in southwest Arabia on the eastern tip of the Red Sea, Sheba occupied 483,000 square miles of mountains, valley and deserts in the area of present day Yemen. Some historians claim that Ethiopia, on the western end of the Red Sea, was also part of Sheba's territory.

The Queen of Sheba

Legends of the Queen of Sheba are common throughout Arabia, Persia, Ethiopia and Israel. In Arabian tradition, Balkis ruled with the heart of a woman but the head and......

A young, attractive woman I met on the plane taught me it's never too late to make a new start in life.
By Paul Houston

About ten years ago, I was on a plane going west, and a young woman boarded and sat across the aisle from me. I noticed her for two reasons. She was very attractive, and she was holding a teddy bear about half her size. After she sat down, I teased her by asking if she had a ticket for the bear. She laughed and said no, and we settled into the hermetically sealed bubbles that airline passengers adopt to create privacy around themselves.

About halfway through the flight she popped the bubble by leaning over and saying, “I just told that man sitting by the window a lie. He asked me why I was going to Tucson, and I told him to visit relatives, but I am really going to enter rehab.” She proceeded to share her life story with me, which included family issues, abuse, and drug use. She had been working as an exotic dancer, which meant......

Using Poetry To Reduce Shame and Guilt

I have been thinking today about the consequences of sexual assault and through my
researches I discovered that April 3, 2008 is a Day to End Sexual Violence by using creative expression.

I can't be silent knowing that one of my friend on Bitcomet suffer from this pain.

I deeply respect and admire her  for her strength and bravery to speak out
her trauma and dare to bring her rapist suit. She only did it to save at least one person...

Our duty is to provide hope to the survivors still struggling
with their feelings. Our place is not to make it better-

Our place is to be a loving supportive friend through hard times.

Shame
One of the consequences of domestic violence and
sexual assault is the shaming of victims. The
perpetrator humiliates and degrades the victim by the
act of violence. Friends and family may discredit the
victim. And finally, shame can be a product of the way
institutions in our society treat victims.......

International Women's Day, celebrated internationally on 8 March every year, focuses this year on the theme  “Investing in Women and Girls.” The celebration will have an intense focus on financing for gender equality at the country level.

In 1977 the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution inviting Member States to proclaim a United Nations Day for Women's Rights and International Peace — International Women's Day — to be observed on any day of the year in accordance with their historical and national traditions. Since then, the United Nations Organization has observed March 8th as International Women's Day. The purpose of this day is to recognize the fact that securing peace and social progress and the full enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms require the active participation, equality and development of women; and to acknowledge the contribution of women to the strengthening of international peace......

What goes Around comes Around

One day a man saw an old lady, stranded on the side of the road, but even in dim light of day,

he could see she needed helped. So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His Pomtiac was still sputtering when he approached her.

Even with the smile on his face, she was worried. No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so. Was he going to hurt her? He didn't look safe; he looked poor and hungry.

He could see that she was frightened, standing out there in the cold. He knew how she felt. It was that chill which fear only can put in you.

He said, "I'm here to help you, ma'am. Why don't you wait in the car where it's warm? By the way, my name is Bryan Anderson."

Well, all she had was a flat tire, but for an old lady, that was bad enough. Brian crawled under the car looking for a place to put jack, skinning his knuckles a time or two. Soon he was able to change the tire. But he had to get dirty......

Languages matter

“The first instrument of a people’s genius is its language,” said the French writer Stendhal. Literacy, learning, social integration….Everything transits through language, which embodies national, cultural and sometimes religious identity for each person.

It constitutes one of the fundamental dimensions of a human being. Yet specialists estimate that within only a few generations, more than half of the 7,000 languages spoken in the world face extinction, because they are not represented......

This is the tale of this little girl to whom people has made to expect that love will come and take her.

Once upon a time, a long time ago, a little girl has been dreaming to have a great and beautiful love. She dreamed to a boy, then later to a stranger to whom she will give her life, her body, her soul.

Time passed by and the beautiful love did not come. She looked for him everywhere in every smile, in every look, in every person she met.For a very long time, she was sure that love would come towards her, would recognize her among others and tell her:

 -        Yes, I was looking for you; I came for you, only you. And that little girl grew and looked like her other friends and women, she gave up her beautiful dream and went out with a fellow who passed by.

She was not still aware that she had betrayed herself, because she did not come upon any love, or pleasure, or the possibility to dream her life.......

The men walk in a single line on the face
of the earth.
Each of them has a bag placed on his chest
and a bag on his back.

In the first bag we place our qualities.
In the second we place our shortcomings.
Each man has his own criteria for deciding
both shortcoming and advantages or qualities.

During this long march that we call life,
We keep our eyes fixed on our front bag
We keep our eyes on our front bag, although
we aren't quite at our final destination,
but we feel we shall arrive there soon.

During this time, on our backs we still
have the weight of our vices which hang
miserably.
We pretend to ignore it, because we are
too busy.

We consider our duty to reproach the
defect of our companions, people around us,
which are in front of us and we are free
to see that they have a bag of drawbacks.

We consider that we are better then him,
forgetting that those who walk behind us
can also see our bag of drawbacks. Those
also......

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
