Improve PC Performance: Tune Up Windows

Over time, Windows XP tends to get clogged up with extra files and programs that can slow down your computer's performance and cause your computer to behave strangely or even stop working altogether. Here's how to keep Windows running smoothly.

Delete Unwanted Files and Programs

Windows Disk Cleanup Utility keeps your hard drive free of unneeded files and programs, frees disk space, and can even speed up PC performance.

1.                     Click Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup to start the utility.

2.                     Select the hard drive you want to clean from the pull-down menu and click OK.

3.                     Be patient. It may take a while for Windows to scan the disk (see Figure 1). When done, Windows displays the categories of files it deems suitable for deletion.

Finally, after a long wait of 28 years India has grabbed a GOLD medal in Olympics. Abhinav Bindra who won gold medal yesterday in Olympics has made history. This is a pride moment for any Indian. Bindra has changed the approach for sports in India.

This is a country where parents are often against sports and emphasis is always laid on study. The schedule of a child is to study before going to sleep and to study as soon as the poor kid wakes up...Although this practice has gifted many intelligent Indian to western countries as there are very few Indians wants to stay back as soon as they finish their study but there are a very little contributions from this country in the world of sports(India-one of the giant in terms of population and nourishing). I agree with parents to a certain limit.

Abhinav, you have finally quench the medal thirsty Indians.

We had very little or I can say nothing to celebrate this Independence Day. From past 30 and odd years all we had was the sugar coated speeches of the politicians.
You just have not created history!!
Now we know how it does feel like, worlds best tag with him.
(I really have the feeling that I personally won the medal myself. Thanks for making me feel this.)

We have never felt this proud in the recent sporting event.
Last Olympics was a pleasant surprise. Mr. R. Rathod has single handedly put India on the medals list. Even though we were proud, it had left us with wanting for more.
(It is very sad that he hasn’t got the due respect he deserves in our sporting world.
We still look up to the cricketers, a sport which is not even recognized by half of the world)

Not even when we won the twenty 20 world cup. After all it is (cricket) played in selected countries. And I feel it is entirely a money making racket. The true gentle men’s game has long disappeared. Because of the glamour present in this game, we had ignored other games. Thanks for bringing us out of that world......

Design Your Own PC

Pick Your Parts:

1. Determine case style – note the form

factor of motherboards that it allows to

be installed. Ex: ATX

2. Determine motherboard type and model

– form factor must be allowed by the

case size. Ex: An ATX motherboard

won’t fit into a micro-ATX case.

3. Determine CPU type – socket type of

CPU must be supported by

motherboard. Ex: Socket 775 CPU has

to be installed in a motherboard with a

socket 775.

4. Determine memory type – type of

memory is dictated by what the

motherboard supports. Ex: Check if

motherboard takes DDR or DDR2

memory and what speed memory and

maximum capacity. Make sure you

know the maximum amount of memory

that can be installed in each memory

slot.

5. Determine video card type. Ex: AGP

or PCI Express (PCI-E).

6. Determine on board sound or add-on

card.

7. Determine on board LAN or add-on

card.

8. Determine power supply requirements.

Ex: You need enough wattage to power

all your components. 500W power

supply should be fine for most

installations unless you are installing

SLI (Dual Video Cards).

Assembly:

1. Open the side of the case by

unscrewing screws on back then slide

the side panel off. Place the case on

it’s side so you have access to the

inside of the case for installation.

2. Before continuing you should have a

ground strap on your wrist connected to

a metal part of the case. Touch a metal

part of the case to discharge any static

electricity.

3. Open the motherboard box and get the

hardware for it out. Install the risers or

standoffs in the case prior to installing

the motherboard. This prevents you

from shorting out the motherboard.

4. Install the motherboard on top of the

risers or standoffs and screw it in.

Note: The back panel of the case has to

be punched out so the motherboard can......
