TORRENTBYTES

I have for a very long time been an active member of www.torrentbytes.net They are a restricted torrent provider with a close knit community. There are minimum upload requirements in order to stay a member. There are also certain rules & regulations that must be followed.

It is because of those very rules and regulations and minimum standards, that the website boasts 100% consistancy to utilize your maximum ISP download speed. THATS RIGHT FOLKS!!! If you have your torrent software configured properly (see my guides). Then you can be sure almost any download you make at www.torentbytes.net will download at the very maximum speed that your connection can handle. I have only ever seen that kind of speed or consistancy with using Giganews usenet host (which I will post about later).

They have a series of "top lists" which provide easy access the "most seeded", "most transferred" and "most......

Eset NOD 32 Smart Security FIREWALL

While running the NOD 32 Smart Security Bundle, there were often issues. Two majour problems were 1) Slow Torrents and 2) Slow Browsing.

1) Torrents would often slow down to a crawl, stop, restart, and linger among other connection problems. On the eset smartsecurity firewall, the automatic setting does not work with torrent utilities in general, because it limits an application to only one outgoing connection, when torrent applications need many outgoing connections. See below for explanation and a fix.

Excerpt from: Eset Knowledge Base

Firewall rules do not apply in automatic mode

Problem:
My application’s connection doesn’t work in Automatic filtering mode. I can create/enable a rule for the application in Interactive firewall mode but as soon as I switch to automatic mode my application’s connection wouldn’t work. What should I do?

Answer:
Automatic filtering......

Ed Felten's lecture: "Rip, Mix, Burn, Sue" -- UPDATED

Ed Felten, the legendary engineer who led the team that broke the music industry's watermarking scheme and whom the music industry threatened with legal action if he presented his findings at a technical conference, has given an amazing lecture on copyright and technology as part of the Princeton President's Lecture series, called "Rip, Mix, Burn, Sue: Technology, Politics, and the Fight to Control Digital Media." It's a fantastic primer for geeks, lawyers and civilians on the copyfight. Link (Thanks, Michael!)

Slow Torrents With Windows XP sp2

Windows xp sp2 limits your TCP connection to a maximum of 10 which really boggs down your torrent speeds. Here is some information from a guide I located that explains how to get rid of that TCP connection limit and speed those torrents back up.

Excerpt from "Speed up your torrents"

Hack the max TCP connections

If you’re on XP sp2, your TCP connections are limited to a maximum of 10. This seriously hurts your downloading speed because it wont let you connect to a high amount of ip numbers. It is supposed to slow down viruses because their spreading strategy is to connect to a high amount of ip numbers, but it also cripples your torrent downloads.
A nice way to fix this is to download this patch, it allows you to set the maximum allowed connections to any number you want. Any number between 50 and 100 is ok (more on this).

In the newspaper today I came across a column.

 CALL OF DUTY

As the apple 3Giphone is introduced to canada, praise turned into anger. Stemed from the rogers rate plans for the 3G iphone which consumers feel is unfair when compared to more feature packed and inexpensive US rate plans.

The majority of voiced concern has been on a website "www.ruinediphone.com" which has collected more than 35,000 signatures on a petition asking Rogers to bring it;s iPhone plans in line with those offered to United States Customers. With a goal of hundreds of thousands of signatures to be placed on the petition, raging fans continue to voice their distaste for the monopoly inspired actions of Rogers, given it's exclusive access of the Apple 3G iPhone.  Rogers defends their subsidized price saying it's lower than any rogers has ever offered. But we all know that canadian mobile companies have enjoyed a limited competition market......

I like to keep up with laws, court cases, and all things happening, which relate to the file sharing/Peer to Peer world. I stumbled upon this website, unfortunately I have never even heard of before! An amazing p2p resource p2pnet.com is updated daily and loaded with information.  File sharing, Courtcases involving the RIAA and MPAA (every single courtcase), With news   relating to movies, music, tv media, mobile, advertising, open source, p2p, freedom, politics, interviews, security, drm, consoles.... Even information on file sharing applications ie:frostwire, etc.

If any site could boast to be THE p2p resource, this one pulled it off. By far the superior p2p resource on the world wide web. Keep yourself informed about events which affect file sharing. But don't take my word for it! Try it for yourself !

See my links on the bottom right side of my page, it is the top link.

1. Do your Research !

Find out the policies and reputation of your isp (google it). For example verizon has an excellent privacy policy and motto vs comcast which has been the cause of many isp warnings.

2. Encrypt your Connection

The majority of torrent applications have built in encryption ability. See this link to find out how to encrypt your torrents for the majour torrent utilities. "http://torrentfreak.com/how-to-encrypt-bittorrent-traffic/"

3.Download peer guardian.

Peer Guardian is designed by pheonix labs, it blacklists isps of known anti p2p persons, agents, companie, etc. It's in no way fullproof but it's in good hands and a great preventative step. See this link: "http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/"

4.  Proxy your IP!

Enlist the services of a good, high quality proxy. One that I have located with many varous plans to meet any budget and only the finest......
