No matter which web browser you use, there should be some options for showing cookies. In Firefox go to Option menu which you will find under the Tools tab. Then click show cookies. There you will find megaupload or rapidshare cookies if you have visited those sites before. These cookies keep tracks of your activity on their respective website. If you delete those cookies you will be able to visit those websites as a first time visitor probably. This idea is useful when you are downloading files. If deleting only megaupload and rapidlibrary cookies doesn’t work, try deleting all the cookies and browsing history.

Use download manager to download. If you are already downloading a file, pause that download and start a new download. I don’t know whether parallel downloads are possible for megaupload and rapidshare files. You can try it preceding way. If they show that your IP is already downloading a file, even if you are not downloading, try changing your IP address or MAC......

Windows XP SP2 Firewall

Whenever 'Listen Port' is mentioned, it refers to the Listen Port you have chosen here in BitComet:
Options > Preferences > "Listen Port"

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections.

Right click the Local Area Connection and choose Properties (if there is more than one use the one that says Connected underneath). Then click the Advanced tab.

Click the Settings button and go to the "Exceptions" tab. Click the Add Program button. Select BitComet then click OK.

Windows XP SP1 Firewall

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections.

Right click the Local Area Connection and choose Properties (if there is more than one use the one that says Connected underneath). Then click the Advanced tab.

Click the Settings button at the bottom. In the Advanced Settings......

With TCP/IP networking, every piece of data that is received must be acknowledged by a small outbound packet. So if you're uploading at full speed, your connection will have trouble letting the people who you're downloading from know that you've received the data they sent you and are ready for them to send some more - and your download rate will suffer. This is known as 'choking'.

Limiting your upload rate to around 80% of your real-world upload speed will leave enough room to send these acknowledgement packets.

To determine your maximum upload speed, do a speed test at dslreports.com/stest. Make sure you're not downloading/uploading anything while this speed test is working or
you will get false results. It will provide you with a download and upload speed at the top of the page in kbps (e.g. 1223 / 240). In this case your upload speed would be 240kbps, so divide this number by 8 to convert it to KB/s and then multiply it by .8 to get 80% of your real-world......

By default, BitComet allows very few peer connections per task. Although this may give slower speeds when you first install BitComet, the stability is increased, which is probably the best way to release a software like this.

A good deal of extra speed can usually be gained by simply increasing the following:

Options > Preferences > Advanced > Connection > "Maximum Connections per task"
Options > Preferences > Advanced > Connection > "Connections to keep per task"

I have set my "Maximum Connections per task" to 150 and my "Connections to keep per task" to 100 which gives me great speeds. But you should experiment to see what works best for your modem/router and internet connection.

Please note that more isn't always better and setting these values too high could give you slower speeds and/or make your modem/router disconnect. For example, some people will tell you to set the "Maximum......

If u have several files u've started downloading in BitTorrent or any manager but want to start using BitComet. How can u import the files into Bitcomet when the original torrents were in a temporary folder and no longer exist?

Here is an answer :

First check whether u have the torrent file (.torrent) of that downloading task. If u have it then its ok. If u don’t have it, u have download the torrent file again. When u have the torrent file, first go to bitcomet, then from the options tab select options, then select “Task”. On the screen u’ll see download menu. In the download menu there is ”Default destination directory:”. Click on the directory then click on ”….”. Set the directory to where u downloaded incomplete files from bittorrent. Close bitcomet & open the torrent file with Bitcomet & click ok & Walla!!!!!!

In order for computer users to transact with confidence online, it has become increasingly important for them to protect personal and confidential data like their passwords, credit card numbers and account information. What are people doing to protect this valuable data?

This is a very broad question so I am going to give you what I think are a couple of the easiest most effective things you can do to protect yourself.

The #1 Rule is that you are the best anti-fraud and identity theft system you can buy. An educated user is far more effective than any software.

+THINK! Think twice before entering or submitting any information for any type of offer on-line. If it sounds to good to be true, especially if it is unsolicited it is likely to be a scam. Research any company before you submit information. A website alone is NOT proof a company is real. One example is the recent surge in scam sights targeting job seekers. Prospective employees who are more than willing to enter all of......

Internet threats and risks are prevalent in the online world. Viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware, hackers and other malicious code can cause minor annoyances to large-scale damage on computer users’ PCs or even their personal identity. How have online threats affected you and what steps do you take now to protect your systems?

Other people already suggested software utilities that you could download and install to help protect you. Instead I will list common sense tips that sometimes get overlooked:

1. Do not install software that you do not trust or did not intend to install in the first place.

Example: A while ago I downloaded and installed DIVX player software. During the installation process it prompted to install Gator. Gator was notorious as spyware.

2. Make sure you update your firewall, antivirus, and other software applications you use on your computer. Keeping up to date with the software available will make it harder for someone to compromise your......
