Olympic2008-Abhinav Bindra,gold medal. Behind the scene-India
It's my humble request- please read the post till the last word. And let others know the truth as well...Please comment or vote if you agree!!!
Finally, after a long wait of 28 years India has grabbed a GOLD medal in Olympics. Abhinav Bindra who won gold medal yesterday in Olympics has made history. This is a pride moment for any Indian. Bindra has changed the approach for sports in India.
Behind the scenes, India- Glory of Olympics
The story begins from a family...
This is a country where parents are often against sports and emphasis is always laid on study. The schedule of a child is to study before going to sleep and to study as soon as the poor kid wakes up...Although this practice has gifted many intelligent Indian to western countries as there are very few Indians wants to stay back as soon as they finish their study but there are a very little contributions from this country in the world of sports(India-one of the giant in terms of population and nourishing). I agree with parents to a certain limit.
India is widely occupied by middle class families and this section of the country is only able to support the academic life of a child. Supporting a kid for sports in India is a brave decision but not easy to make. Now a day the cost of study is also kissing heights. And a middle class can't afford to provide the wiz kid with proper training and equipments. The cost of living is also going high in this country. The economic development has gifted inflation to India. The point of view of parents is correct in making their child self sufficient to earn bread and butter.
In other countries its always seen that children going to some sports complex at the early age and making good process physically as well as mentally.
India is developing well on papers but problems of the country are still same since 1947. Every country is governed by a central government so as India. Indian politics is always...nothing to say much about it. The recent political scenario displays bribe in all the sectors including the Indian Parliament. This is same from a long time.
This had a adverse effect on sports culture. Sportsmanship has been caged in
bureaucracy. You have to present a lot of documents to prove that you are good player. And managing documents is not a big deal. One who is worth watches the game on TV and the one with documents returns empty handed.
India has a lot of sports academies but to enter one is not that easy. One needs to have some recommendations or acquaintances to step into the boundary walls of an academy. This circle gives the bad odor of ill bureaucracy and redtapism.
One should not criticize cricket for bad conditions of sports in India. The BCCI has done a remarkable job in taking the Indian cricket to the world. Instead of criticizing cricket, the country needs to plan out for other games as well.
The media is responsible for the bad condition of sports in India. They give you news of newsmakers...hence increasing their viewer ship. Yesterday one of the news channel was randomly asking the public- Who is Abhinav Bindra? This questioned was asked at noon when it was already flashed that Bindra has won the gold medal. They could have highlighted Bindra before his great win. They could have highlighted his hard work before the Beijing2008. I am sure even the news correspondent asking this question was also not aware of the Bindra!!!
Apart from all this; Mr.Abhinav Bindra has created a history. Hats off to him...Emerged on his own on the horizon. All thanks to his parents, his coach and the whole team.
My motto is not to criticize the India or the Indian government but its to present the real picture behind the Gold Medal fetched by Bindra in Olympics2008. Imagine the kind of conditions and hard work behind this gold medal. He kept himself orientated and gave a message to India that winning medal is possible.
In the end...I just love my country. Jaya Hai
