Sooooooo...I've got a problem. My ex-girlfriend, Sarah, told a girl at my school, Maika, something bad about my best friend Matt. Sarah said that I told her the bad thing about my friend. This is a lie she made up to get back at me for breaking up with her. Matt loves, and I mean LOVES, Maika, and they used to be really close friends. Now, Maika hates me and doesn't like Matt.  I want to help, but bringing it up makes him sad, so he doesn't talk about it. I would leave him alone, but ignoring the problem only makes him sadder.

What should I do?

Thanks alot, Maika was my friend, but someone told her that I liked her (I don't), and now she is being a b*tch to me. Anyways...thanks for the help! a light touch seems to be defusing things. I think Maika is starting to be friends with Matt again, and Matt has made nearly a complete turnaround.
