What is Acne, its cause and control?
Acne which has become growing problem of teenagers nowadays. General concept about it is that it is caused by the lack of cleanliness but the fact is something else. it is not necessarily caused by lack of cleanliness but it is caused by oily secretions of glands that gets trapped below the skin. The area becomes swollen and red in fair skinned people and may appear more bluish-purple in others. Generally the site becomes infected and sometime may result is permanent scarring of the skin.
It has been thought that the Acne problems suffered by adolescents are the result of various types of food like Chocolate or fatty foods, but there is no any strong evidence to support this. Actually the main culprit is androgens (sex hormones) which stimulate the developments and maintenance of sex characteristics. These hormones are first secreted at the age of puberty (the time at which both sexes becomes functionally capable of reproduction) and in case of young adolescents Acne don not appear for long. Many studies have shown that the quantity of androgens secreted by the sex glands influences the amount of sebum produced. From this it is clear that the testes, ovaries, adrenal and pituitary glands etc.all of these play a role in determining the activity of the sebaceous glands and the incidence of Acne.
Until now, however no reliable control for most types of acne has been found we can apply some methods from spreading. One of the best methods we can apply is-If someone have an oily skin, frequently wash the face, neck chest and back first with warm water and soap and then rinse with cold water. But we should never share our wash cloth with other. Some Acne cream is also found in market but their use may cause some side effect, so it is suggested not to apply any cream rather than pay more attention towards personal hygiene.
