Story
Hikari Hanazono has always been second to Kei Takishima. When they
were six years old, their pro-wrestling loving fathers introduced them
to each other. Assuming that she was the best in wrestling, young
Hikari challenged Kei to a wrestling match only to be thoroughly
defeated by him.
Ever since that fateful incident, Hikari swore to beat Kei in school
grades, a sporting event - anything. To do this, she has enrolled in
the same school as Kei since elementary. Now she attends Hakusenkan, an
ultra elite school, that costs her carpenter father a lot of money.
Hikari and Kei are the top two students in the school, with Kei holding
firmly to that number one position. While Hikari considers Kei to be a
rival and important friend, she is completely unaware that Kei loves
her.
The story primarily focuses on Hikari and her constant attempts to
defeat her one and only rival, Kei, and how she finds love in their
rivalry.
My Thoughts
I never thought this would also be serialized so soon! Though I am already an established fan to its manga, seeing it on anime is just really different!
It is interesting to note that only Hikari sees Kei as her ultimate
"enemy" be it academically or at sports. She is so dense in sensing
that Kei's been in love with her for years!
While she struggles to get
into first place, she is constantly being taunted by Kei, who's born
genius and doesn't even need to study at all making poor Hikari stays
constantly at #2
but that's not about to bring her down any time soon! And now that this has been adapted into anime, the fun in watching their antics has never been so cool!
On
the other hand...don't you find the character design
so...errr...slightly different from the manga? Their legs are a bit
long and I didn't really expect for Kei to sound so...gay (well, that's
only my opinion)
I was kind of expecting for him to sound more
masculine...with a bit of enigma kind of aura around him (which he
still has btw) though honestly it didn't sound really bad at all...it's
just that i was surprised to hear him talk like a suave...
well, another
one of those things that i need to get used to though i still get that "flinch" whenever Kei talks...
Flinching aside, it sure was hilarious to watch Hikari and Kei
do the vault challenge (a little bit overboard don't you think?)
and what about the training both went through in preparation for their wrestling match? These guys are monsters!
What do they eat anyway??
But
anything is possible in this anime so expect more of these funny and simply outrageous stunts that these two have in
stored for us.
