Kure-nai (紅, Kurenai?) is
a light novel series by Kentarou Katayama, with illustrations by Yamato
Yamamoto. A manga adaptation started serialization in the first issue
of Jump Square magazine. An anime adaptation is currently being
broadcast.
Story
16-year-old Shinkurou Kurenai, a
specialist in settling squabbles between people, is one day approached
by the daughter of a powerful plutocratic family asking him to be her
bodyguard
My Thoughts
It's interesting to note that although this series focuses on Kurenai's
struggle to become a reliable bodyguard while trying to lead a normal
high school life, the story itself is more serious and brutal than what
I initially thought it would be.
Kuhouin's mature personality is kind
of refreshing although not at all surprising taking the fact that she
grew up in a rather "gloomy", "serious" environment.
Her upbringing
must've been really tough for her to handle that is why she "escaped"
though I wonder how she managed to do it...maybe it'll be revealed in
the later series no?
-----
Murasaki can't help herself but feel cynical towards the things she saw
on the television back then with Tamaki because she never got to
experienced love and being loved back at all...
that's why the outside
world seemed too big for her to handle and at times feel alienated with
everything else...
except for Shinkuro that is...on the other note, she's just too cute
to be pitied nor get angry with ne? Her cynism coupled with her
blissful ignorance with what the real society is made her all the more
fun to watch and surely, that laboratory incident will never be
forgotten...poor child!
Although Yuuno is a bit flirtatious
towards Shinkuro, I never thought of her bad at all nor with his
childhood friend though unfortunately for her, Yuuno already has the
advantage over Shinkuro's affection...
it's definitely love triangle in
the air
although I find Shinkuro here at fault since he's just too
dense in sensing other peoples' feelings and more often,
unintentionally misunderstood all these things! He's sometimes just too
pure for his own good don't you think?
Yuuno caught my
attention on the 3rd episode...could she be a future foe perhaps? or
Shinkuro and Murasaki's destined ally?
Though we only saw a little bit
of "action" in the last 3 episodes, this Yuuno girl isn't someone to
mess with considering that Shinkuro used to live with them and was
taught martial arts...Yuuno is definitely one formidable girl to
trample with.
Overall, my satisfaction level for this animé is still
high though I wish there'll be more "action" than just talks in the
succeeding episodes to come.
